Artist Statement

In my photography I strive to see with the eyes of my heart - to look beyond the obvious to find that essential element - that common thread - that deep longing - that exists in all of us.

Time spent in the Sierra, National Parks and in the desert opened my heart to the sky and the mountains and to empty spaces. From my Dad I learned a wide angle view of Nature. And my Mother was the one who sat with me close to the Earth and showed me how to see many small treasures hidden in plain sight. From my Mom I learned to love the intimate, the quiet and the simple.

This earth fascinates me. I am in love with Nature and her wild places - with her designs and textures. I want to give that feeling - that love - back to you through my photography. I believe in Nature as a healing force and as a refuge from that chaos of daily life. If we listen, we can find peace and discover our
own inner voice of wisdom.

I keep remembering the Fox's words to the Little Prince in one of my favorite
Fairy tales. "What is essential is invisible to the eye.
                 It is only with the heart one can see rightly."
